Product & Formula

Synthetic paints are formed with aqueous emulsions of resins or plastic materials and use petroleum-based materials in their composition. During their application and drying process, these paints give off VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and formaldehyde, all of which are carcinogenic substances. In addition, synthetic paints are not permeable, thereby promoting the formation of condensation and mould.

At Graphenstone we formulate our products based on lime. A natural and organic product, trace VOCs and formaldehyde, breathable and with a high pH, which prevents the appearance of mould and fungus.

More information

Graphenstone® differs from synthetic paints in water vapour permeability. Thanks to this property the accumulation of water in the building is avoided. These damps degrade the paint in the form of blistering and / or breakage impacting in the aesthetics of the building. High breathability and high pH helps to naturally prevent the growth of fungi, bacteria and moulds, which cause allergies and respiratory problems in health.

Also due to its mineral character, it is resistant to fire, inert to the environment and can be reused.

Graphenstone® lime-based products absorb CO2 from the air during the drying process.
In addition, it has a high degree of solar reflectance and thermal emittance, due to the high quality of lime. These two factors contribute to energy efficiency.

The lime used in our paints and coatings is produced in millennial wood ovens, avoiding the burning of fuels and other chemicals. In addition, we do not add products that alter their properties, such as their purity and high whiteness. On the other hand, the application of graphene technology to our products makes them unique and innovative in the market.

More information

Graphenstone® differs from other mineral paints mainly in its improvement in adhesion, washability, flexibility, durability and performance. All this thanks to the incorporation of graphene technology. You get the same properties as a plastic paint in a natural paint.

The lime used in Graphenstone® products is obtained in millenary wood-burning ovens of Arab origin following the traditional method of extraction that gives it exceptional purity and whiteness. This handmade lime is manufactured since the midnineteenth century.

Its cycle is a 100% natural process, from the wood used to feed the oven, through the firing of the limestone, until the final product obtained.

Graphene & Technology

Graphene is considered the gold of the future. This material, composed of pure carbon, is 200 times stronger than structural steel and 1,000 times more conductive than copper. Currently it is being applied in different fields, such as electronics, medicine and, in our case, paints.

More information

Traditional lime paints have problems of strength, cracking and durability. On the other hand, lime mortars require a longer setting than the construction requires today. These facts make it clear that natural lime products require an additive to strengthen it.

After a long time of research, the company found in graphene technology a material that allows the production of an inorganic, alkali-resistant, strong, and flexible product. However, it is an expensive and water-repellent product that, while achieving good technical properties, was not economically viable. This changed when a natural hydraulic graphene polymer was obtained, utilizing a small amount of graphene. This marked the first know-how acquisition for the company.

Graphene acts as a structural support at the molecular level. Thanks to graphene we obtain a natural product that:
It is washable: natural paints can not be washed.
It is flexible: it does not crack and it is possible, for the first time, to use a roller for natural paints without resin, being easy to apply.
Improves adhesion on many substrates: physical-chemical adhesion improves performance, durability and application. Natural lime paints mainly have adhesion on lime mortars.

More information

Lime has been widely used in the past for interior and exterior walls decoration but after the appearance of plastic paints, they were replaced by these, which showed greater resistance.

Adding graphene to our formula, it has improved the properties of lime, increasing its durability. This is why Graphenstone offers a product guarantee of 5 years *.
*Applied by official Graphenstone applicators and according to Technical Department guidelines.

Health & Environment

Our products are made with a base of artisanal lime paste extracted following the traditional method. During the process of carbonation, which occurs after the application, when the paint dries, the lime absorbs CO2, improving the quality of the air.

Aware of the importance of our environment and the health of people, our products are composed of natural elements. For all this, our paints and coatings have a series of certifications, such as C2C Health GOLD, GreenTag Health Platinum and Sensitive Choice, which prove that they are especially suitable for people suffering from respiratory problems such as asthma or allergy and chemical intolerance.

More information

In addition to contributing to atmospheric decontamination, thanks to the absorption of CO2, Graphenstone has a photocatalytic paint, AmbientPro+, which decomposes organic compounds and inorganic gases, eliminating air pollution. On the other hand, it has in its product range Proshield, a conductive paint for protection against high and low frequency radiation of application in homes, schools, shops, etc.

Graphenstone® lime based products are energy efficient due to its Solar Reflectance Index (SRI).

SRI is a measure of the constructed surface’s ability to stay cool in the sun by reflecting solar radiation (ability of a material to reflect solar energy from its surface back into the atmosphere) and emitting thermal radiation (ability of a material to release absorbed energy). SRI = 0 is defined as standard black surface and SRI = 100 is defined as a standard white surface.

Biosphere has SRI = 100 (solar reflectance 82.2%, thermal emittance 79%). This property is coming from the high quality of our lime (crystal structure without impurities). Please, find the full test report in the following link: Cerfitications

Use & Application

Yes, you can apply the Graphenstone paints on a wall already painted with plastic product. There is no problem, in fact the yield and adhesion are very good. This would be the simplest and most economical procedure.

Our recommendation and the ideal procedure would be to remove the plastic paint before applying one of ourproducts, which are breathable and do not emit VOCs, to make the wall "breathe" and avoid future problems of moisture, fissures and blistering.

Graphenstone paints are no more expensive than those of the market. Thanks to the graphene technology and the high quality of the material used, our paints offer a great coverage and performance, needing less layers and, therefore, less paint, to cover a wall completely.
