This step involves measuring the room to determine its surface area in square metres.
Use a tape measure to find the length and height of each wall in metres. Multiply the length by the height to calculate the square metres of each wall. Add these figures together to obtain the total wall area in square metres. Remember to measure any windows and doors; subtract their area from the total, as you won’t be painting these parts. For rooms with standard ceiling height, simply multiply the perimeter of the room by the ceiling height to find the total area.
This step focuses on understanding the coverage provided by Graphenstone Paint.
Check the Graphenstone Paint can for its coverage information or the product specification data sheet. Typically, one litre of Graphenstone Paint covers approximately 15 square metres with one coat. However, this can vary depending on the type of paint and the surface you’re painting. If you have unpainted plasterboard, which absorbs more paint, or if you’re covering a dark colour, you might need more paint. Consider how many coats you’ll need; most rooms require at least two coats for an even, comprehensive coverage.
This step involves calculating the total amount of paint needed.
Divide the total square metre area of your room (from Step 1) by the coverage per litre (from Step 2). This calculation gives you the number of litres needed for one coat. Since two coats are usually recommended for a consistent finish, multiply this number by 2. If you’re painting a textured wall, consider adding a bit extra as such surfaces tend to use more paint. Always round up to the nearest litre to ensure you have enough paint, and it’s wise to have a little extra for touch-ups.
This step involves mixing and stirring the Graphenstone Paint for application. Open your Graphenstone Paint and stir it thoroughly to ensure consistent colour and texture. If you’re using more than one can for a single colour, mix them together in a large bucket for uniformity. Add approximately 10-15% of water. Pour some paint into the tray, filling it only halfway to avoid spills. Graphenstone Paints are known for their natural ingredients and unique properties; hence, consistent stirring is crucial. Dilute the paint in accordance with the instructions on the tin.
NB: Wall length & width are doubled to account for a room with four walls.
Please note:
1 coat average is 14 sqm per litre
2 coats average is 7 sqm per litre
